Cogent Communications, Inc. (Cogent -Seattle) Data Center

The facility offers key On-Net Products including IP Transit and Ethernet Transport Services. The standard cabinet configuration utilizes 48U Cabinets (APC AR3107 type), with power available as either one 110V/20A or two 110V/20A circuits, charged separately. For connectivity, the facility offers Carrier Availability through major providers like Cogent and Century Link. Additional services include Peering networks (7), Remote Hands, and WiFi.

The power system is robust, featuring two 480V 3-phase utility feeds with an impressive 8,000 amps each. The facility's total power capacity is 5.3 MW of Fully Built-Out Power, all of which is currently Live Power. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) is managed by four Piller UPS Units, each rated at 750kVA, arranged in an "A+B" redundant system (two units running in parallel per system). Power distribution in the data center is handled by twenty-two Liebert PDUs, each providing 225kVA.

Further ensuring continuity, the facility is equipped with three Caterpillar Diesel Generators, each rated at 1,600kW. These generators are configured to work in parallel for redundancy and share power from two large 6,000-gallon diesel fuel tanks. The UPS systems are supported by a massive battery room containing 992 wet-cell C&D UPS batteries, with 248 batteries allocated to each of the four Piller UPS Units.

Security is a top priority, utilizing a sophisticated C*CURE Card-Reader Access Control System. There are 16 card readers at all essential access points. Entry into the actual data center space is strictly controlled, requiring both an HID card swipe and a unique pin code. Surveillance is maintained by nine IP cameras with recording capabilities, backed by 24/7/365 monitoring by the Cogent NOC.

The data center spans 14,065 sq. feet of raised floor space, with 3,087 sq. ft. of Fully Built-Out Whitespace available. Custom Cages and shared rackspace are also available. The HVAC system uses a Chilled Water system with two Trane chillers operating in a redundant setup. Cooling is distributed via twelve 50-ton chilled water CRAC units (Data Aire). The system has backup capability with two 13,000-gallon water storage tanks. Fire safety includes a comprehensive system with heat and smoke detectors, a preaction sprinkler system, and a separate, large Inergen gas-tank system consisting of 242 tanks. A Vesda air sampling smoke detection system provides early warning.
