The Seattle Data Center (SDC) serves as our flagship facility, boasting an award-winning operations team that has consistently maintained an impeccable service record since its inception in 1990. This dedication provides a secure and reliable mission-critical environment, making SDC the preferred choice for many of the world's leading enterprises and institutions. The Data center encompasses over a million square feet of space, ideal for both colocation and powered shell deployment.
SDC Seattle is built with robust power capabilities to support diverse needs. The facility currently has a Fully Built-Out Power capacity of 90 MW, with 54 MW of Live Power actively in use. An additional 6 MW of power is currently under construction, demonstrating ongoing expansion and commitment to capacity. The entire infrastructure is supported by an N+1 redundancy design for both the UPS and standby power systems, ensuring high availability.
Sustainability is a core component of SDC's design, contributing to a low Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The data center utilizes green, cost-effective, and predictable hydropower as its main energy source. Furthermore, the facility leverages “free cooling” for most of the year, which significantly reduces operational expenses. The cooling redundancy is also maintained at an N+1 level for reliability.
The security of the mission-critical environment is paramount. Physical security features include a fenced perimeter, mantrap entry, CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and automatic fire suppression systems. Onsite security staff are present 24/7. Furthermore, SDC adheres to rigorous industry standards, evidenced by its Tier 3 design and various certifications, including DSS PCI Compliant, ISO27001 Certified, LEED Gold, HIPAA, SOC 1 Type I Certified, SOC 2 Type II Certified, and SSAE 18 Audited.
The SDC Seattle facility offers significant redundancy and diversity in carrier connections. It provides access to a variety of network providers and features a dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR) to facilitate easy and robust interconnections. This connectivity ensures that clients have resilient and high-speed access to their critical systems and the global network.
To cater to client needs, the data center offers a range of deployment options, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace suites. The facility also provides Remote Hands service for on-demand assistance with equipment. For client use, the campus is equipped with a conference room, breakroom, office space, and a loading bay. Ample covered and open-air parking is also available.
The location in the Greater Seattle Metro area is a key strategic advantage, as it is recognized as one of the top places to recruit talent on the West Coast, providing clients with access to a highly skilled workforce. The campus is designed for growth and resilience, currently having 5 child data center listings associated with it, indicating a geographically and strategically diverse footprint.
