The New York data center NY1 is a key component of Equinix's International Business Exchange (IBX) facilities. Strategically situated on Halsey St., this facility is designed to cater to the stringent requirements of the world's largest financial, media, and enterprise companies. It is specifically recognized for providing premium interconnection services essential for modern, high-speed digital infrastructure. The facility spans 14 floors with a solid floor type, offering significant space for co-location services.
The NY1 data center provides a fully built out whitespace area of 21,775 square feet. This space is flexible, supporting various colocation options including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, and Cages Footprints. The floor is a Solid Floor structure, capable of handling a maximum floor load of 100 Lb/sq.f. to support dense equipment configurations.
To ensure maximum uptime, the data center operates with high levels of electrical redundancy. Both the Electrical System Redundancy and the UPS Redundancy are configured as 2N, meaning there are two independent, fully redundant systems available for power delivery. The facility's standby power is robust, configured for N+1 redundancy. This includes four 750 kW diesel generators to ensure continuous operation during utility outages.
The cooling infrastructure is designed with N+1 redundancy for reliability. The system employs CRAC units (Computer Room Air Conditioning) utilizing a common-loop dry cooler condenser water system. The temperature and humidity are controlled to maintain optimal operating conditions for IT equipment.
Physical security at NY1 is maintained 24/7 by onsite security staff. The access control measures are robust and layered, including Mantrap Entry, CCTV surveillance, and Biometric Access Control. For fire safety, the facility uses a Double-interlocked, pre-action (dry pipe) fire suppression system, which is one of the safest methods for protecting sensitive IT equipment.
NY1 is a vital hub for network connectivity, featuring two Internet Exchange Points. The data center hosts 34 peering networks and provides access to a total of four Network Providers. Additionally, three Tenants within the facility offer co-location services, further enhancing the ecosystem and interconnection opportunities for customers.
The data center holds a comprehensive array of certifications demonstrating compliance with various global standards for security, quality, and business continuity. Key certifications include: ISO 27001, ISO 22301, and ISO 50001. It also meets sector-specific compliance requirements such as HIPAA, PCI DSS (being DSS PCI Certified), and NIST 800-53/FISMA High (being FISMA Certified), making it suitable for highly regulated industries.
