Cogent Communications, Inc. (Cogent Data Center - New Orleans) Data Center

The facility provides high performance On Net products, including IP Transit and Ethernet Transport Services. It features a diverse carrier ecosystem with availability from AT&T, COX, and Zayo. The network environment is further bolstered by five network providers and two peering networks, ensuring reliable outbound and inbound data paths.

The site encompasses 7,812 square feet of non raised floor colocation space, currently supporting a live power capacity of 0.7 MW. Standard deployments utilize 42U APC Cabinets Model AR3100. The facility also offers custom cages, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace to meet various scale requirements. On site support is enhanced by Remote Hands services and facility wide WiFi for technicians.

Power is delivered via a 480v 3 phase utility feed rated at 1,000 amps. The facility utilizes an 180kVA MGE Galaxy UPS system backed by a string of 40 batteries. For DC requirements, the site features a plant consisting of four Vortex Lorain rectifiers rated at 200 amps each and 20 C and D batteries. Distribution is managed through high capacity PDUs rated at 150kW and 60kVA along with Lorain BDFBs.

To ensure continuous uptime, the facility is equipped with a 750kW Cummins Diesel Generator supported by a 5,000 gallon fuel tank and a 1,500 Amp RussElectric Automatic Transfer Switch. Environmental cooling is maintained by four 20 ton Liebert HVAC units for the data center floor, with additional dedicated 20 ton and 10 ton units serving the electrical rooms.

The data center employs a multi layered security approach, including 24 by 7 building surveillance and a C CURE card reader system. Access to the data center floor requires both an HID card swipe and a unique PIN. Monitoring is integrated directly with the Cogent NOC through five strategically placed cameras. Fire safety is managed through a comprehensive system of heat and smoke detectors paired with a pre action sprinkler system.
