Simple Helix Data Center

The Simple Helix data center, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is a premier Tier III facility that has been operational since 2007. As a multi tenant environment, it is engineered for mission critical reliability, featuring two independent data halls. This structural design ensures that each hall operates with dedicated resources, allowing the facility to maintain a high standard of performance. The center is built to accommodate a variety of needs, offering flexible hosting options that range from full and partial cabinets to shared rackspace.

With a robust power capacity of 1.1MW and a total built out potential of 4.5MW, the facility utilizes a highly redundant electrical architecture. It features APC Modular Symmetra MW UPS systems, each providing 600kW of capacity. To protect against utility failure, the site employs a 2N+1 standby power configuration consisting of four 1,000kW generators. This level of redundancy ensures that the data center remains fully operational even during simultaneous equipment maintenance or unexpected power surges.

Environmental control is managed through a closed loop chiller system in a 2N+1 configuration, supported by 390 ton chillers. This system is designed for both reliability and sustainability, achieving a Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.4 at maximum load. To further protect the hardware, the cooling infrastructure is integrated with smart sensor leak detection systems. This precise climate control allows the facility to support high density computing environments, providing up to 15kW per rack for power intensive applications.

Security is a cornerstone of the Simple Helix facility, utilizing a multi layered approach to protect physical assets. The perimeter is fully fenced and monitored 24/7 by onsite security staff and extensive CCTV surveillance. Entry into the data halls is strictly controlled via mantrap entries and biometric access points, ensuring that only authorized personnel can reach the hardware. These rigorous protocols provide a secure environment for businesses hosting sensitive or critical digital infrastructure.

As a highly connected hub, Simple Helix features a dedicated Meet Me Room and access to peering networks, providing diverse fiber paths for low latency connectivity. Beyond the physical space, the facility offers Remote Hands services, allowing clients to have onsite technicians perform hardware tasks on their behalf.
