DR Fortress, LLC (DRFortress - Honolulu, Hawaii) Data Center

Originally established in 2001 and significantly expanded in February 2021, DRFortress serves as the premier network neutral data center hub in Hawaii. The facility spans a total of 65,000 square feet, with 55,000 square feet dedicated to housing the mission critical operations of major carriers, ISPs, and enterprise companies. Strategically located near the Honolulu International Airport and major freeways, the data center is housed within a hardened concrete industrial building, ensuring both easy accessibility for clients and a robust physical environment for hardware.

DRFortress is a Tier IV designed facility, engineered to maintain high availability through comprehensive N+1 redundancy across its mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems. The site features a fully built out power capacity of 4.2 MW, with 2,000 kW of immediate facility power supported by both UPS systems and on site diesel generators. To ensure business continuity during utility outages, the facility maintains enough fuel to run at full load for up to 80 hours. Cooling is managed via a concrete slab and overhead distribution system, also maintained at an N+1 redundancy level.

Security is a cornerstone of the DRFortress operation, featuring a multi layered defense strategy that includes 24 by 7 on site security guards and technical staff. Access to the facility is strictly controlled through a combination of biometric scanners and card access systems, supplemented by continuous CCTV video surveillance. To protect the physical infrastructure from environmental hazards, the building is equipped with advanced fire suppression systems utilizing FM200 or VESDA deployments, alongside a comprehensive alarm system.

As the central nervous system for Hawaii’s internet traffic, DRFortress hosts the state’s largest collection of Tier 1 and Tier 2 carriers, including AT and T, Hawaiian Telcom, Spectrum, and Lumen. The facility serves as a vital peering hub, featuring two Internet Exchange Points and 28 peering networks. Customers can access a wide range of network services from DS1 and DS3 to GigE and OC48 speeds, with all cross connects managed internally by the DRFortress team to ensure seamless inter connectivity between providers and enterprises.

DRFortress offers a versatile suite of colocation and hosting services tailored to various business scales, ranging from individual server hosting and partial cabinets to dedicated suites and cages. Beyond physical rack space, the facility provides virtual servers, dedicated servers, and on site office space for disaster recovery or operational needs. To support off site administrators, the facility offers 24 by 7 Remote Hands services, allowing expert on site technicians to perform manual tasks, hardware resets, or troubleshooting at any hour.
