The Consolidated Communications Fargo Data Center is a state of the art facility encompassing 1,700 square feet of fully built out whitespace. Designed for maximum stability and protection, the center is constructed on a solid cement slab floor. The structural integrity of the building is a primary focus, featuring 8 inch concrete block walls reinforced with concrete filled cores and vertical steel bars. To mitigate environmental risks, the facility is protected by Aqua Dam flood technology, and the roofing system is equally robust, utilizing 8 inch concrete planks topped with a protective membrane and a secondary 3 inch concrete layer.
To meet the most demanding digital requirements, the data center offers high tier connectivity with built in path redundancy through dual fiber entrances. The network infrastructure supports carrier grade Ethernet and redundant SONET facilities, ensuring that data transmission remains uninterrupted. This dual path approach is designed to eliminate single points of failure, providing businesses with the reliable uptime necessary for critical operations.
The facility provides flexible colocation options, including full 45U secured cabinets and half rack 22U lockable units. Each unit adheres to the 19 inch EIA 310 E standard, with physical dimensions of 84 inches in height, 30 inches in width, and 42 inches in depth. For businesses with smaller needs, shared rackspace is also available. These units are housed in a secure environment where Remote Hands services are accessible to assist with hardware management without requiring the client to be onsite.
Reliable power delivery is a cornerstone of the Fargo facility, which utilizes an N plus 1 redundancy model for its standby power. The electrical backbone consists of three 208v 80kVA Eaton UPS systems that are load balanced for maximum efficiency. In the event of a primary utility failure, a commercial grade 650kW onsite generator provides an uninterrupted power supply. At the rack level, equipment is supported by two 115v 20 amp UPS circuits and a 16 position power strip, with custom power configurations available upon request.
The data center maintains a precise climate through three 30 ton A C and Data Aire HVAC units that rotate weekly to ensure consistent airflow and longevity. Temperature and humidity are meticulously tracked by Electro Watchman alarms, which monitor both high and low thresholds to prevent hardware degradation. This environmental system is fully integrated into the backup power grid, ensuring that cooling remains active even during a generator led power event.
Security and safety are managed through a multi layered approach involving 24x7x365 card access control and comprehensive CCTV surveillance covering both the interior and exterior. Fire protection is handled by the ANSUL SAPPHIRE fixed nozzle system, which utilizes 3M Novec 1230 fire protection fluid, a clean agent that extinguishes fire without damaging sensitive electronics. This is paired with a Vesda air sampling system for early smoke detection and specialized water detectors to safeguard against leaks.
