Involta’s Duluth facility is a world class, multi tenant colocation center designed to provide a state of the art environment for secure data storage. Spanning a total building size of 26,000 square feet, the facility features over 10,000 square feet of dedicated white space. The reinforced concrete construction ensures a stable and predictable high-performance environment, allowing organizations to avoid the significant capital and operational expenses associated with building and maintaining an independent private facility.

The facility is engineered for mission-critical reliability, supported by a fully built-out power capacity of 1 MW. To ensure continuous uptime, the data center utilizes a 2N UPS redundancy configuration, meaning every power component has a complete independent backup. This concurrently maintainable design is further bolstered by N+1 standby power redundancy, ensuring that the infrastructure remains operational even during utility failures or scheduled maintenance.

To maintain the integrity of sensitive IT hardware, the facility employs sophisticated HVAC systems with N+1 cooling redundancy. These environmental controls manage temperature and humidity with precision, creating an ideal climate for several cabinets of infrastructure. Additionally, the facility is equipped with specialized fire detection and automatic fire suppression systems, providing comprehensive protection against environmental hazards that could threaten data availability.

Security is a cornerstone of the Duluth facility, featuring a “defense-in-depth” approach. Access is strictly controlled through a combination of a secure mantrap entry, biometric authentication, and card access protocols. The perimeter and interior are monitored by 24/7/365 CCTV surveillance and supported by onsite security staff. These measures ensure that only authorized personnel can enter the facility, protecting the physical hardware of every tenant.

Involta provides high-speed, redundant fiber optic connections and access to two peering networks to ensure constant connectivity. Clients benefit from a variety of flexible space options, including full or partial cabinets, shared rack space, cages, and private suites. For technical support, the facility offers “Remote Hands” services, where an accredited team of experts is available to assist with physical hardware tasks, bringing added value and efficiency to client IT organizations.
