The data center occupies a total building footprint of 19,260 square feet, with 9,500 square feet dedicated to fully built out white space. Operational since 1972, the facility is designed to accommodate a variety of hardware configurations. Clients can choose from flexible colocation options including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, and private cages to meet specific density and privacy requirements.
To support mission critical workloads, the site offers 0.25 MW of fully built out power. The electrical architecture features 2N UPS redundancy, utilizing a 500kVa UPS system equipped with comprehensive battery backups. This ensures that even in the event of a primary power failure, the transition to backup systems is seamless and the hardware remains energized without interruption.
Maintaining an optimal climate for sensitive electronics is a priority at the Southfield facility. It utilizes 126 tons of cooling capacity delivered via high efficiency APC and Liebert DX units. The cooling system is configured with N+1 redundancy, meaning there is always a backup unit ready to take over if a primary cooling component requires maintenance or fails, ensuring stable temperature and humidity levels.
For long term utility outages, the data center is equipped with robust standby power systems. The facility features 2N standby power redundancy powered by two primary generators, one 900kw and one 600kw. This dual generator setup ensures that the data center can operate independently of the local power grid for extended periods during emergencies.
This facility meets rigorous industry standards for data handling and operational integrity. It is SSAE 18 audited and holds SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type I certifications. Furthermore, the data center is compliant with DSS PCI for financial transactions, as well as HIPAA and HITECH standards, making it a secure choice for healthcare and financial service providers.
Physical security is managed through a multi layered approach, including mantrap entry and biometric access controls to prevent unauthorized personnel from entering the white space. To protect hardware from fire damage without the risks associated with water, the facility uses an Ecaro 25 dry fire suppression system, which is designed to extinguish fires quickly while remaining safe for electronic equipment.
Beyond the technical white space, the data center provides professional amenities for on site technicians and visiting staff. This includes access to a conference room for meetings and a dedicated loading bay to facilitate the easy delivery and unboxing of heavy server equipment. For clients who cannot be on site, the facility also offers Remote Hands services to assist with technical tasks.
