The facility is built entirely on computer-grade raised flooring and features a triple earth-grounded system. To enhance cooling and secure cabling, Earthnet utilizes overhead ladder-rack wiring systems, with 4-inch ADC fiber tray available throughout the space.
A top priority for Earthnet is providing high-quality Internet connectivity. They exclusively select premium Tier-1 bandwidth providers to ensure minimal latency and global reachability. The network boasts direct connectivity with Mammoth and Century Link, and features aggregated Tier-2 peering with a comprehensive list of major carriers including Sprint, UUNet, Global Crossing, and XO. Earthnet is also Boulder's chosen provider for Century Link Metro Optical Ethernet (QMOE), offering Gigabit capabilities.
Earthnet's power infrastructure features extensive fault tolerance and resilience. Incoming service is routed underground to an ASCO Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS). Power then passes through a Liebert Interceptor Series Transient Voltage Surge Suppression (TVSS) system to protect sensitive equipment. The facility uses a pair of redundant 300 kVA Powerware 9315 Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS), each with dual battery cabinets and a maintenance bypass. Final power transformation and distribution to racks are handled by Pulazzi Power Distribution Units (PDUs).
For grid failures, a Volvo-powered Elliott-Magnatek 350kW diesel generator provides backup power, featuring over 24 hours of autonomous runtime. The generator is activated automatically by the ASCO ATS within 20 seconds of an outage, though the Powerware UPS system can handle the intermediate load for over an hour. This system is tested weekly to ensure immediate functionality during an emergency.
Earthnet maintains optimal equipment reliability through precisely regulated temperature and humidity, using fully redundant Liebert System3 20-ton up-flow air conditioning units and a 20-ton economizer. These units continuously pump chilled air into the pressurized raised floor. Each unit has independent compressors and cooling loops for enhanced fault tolerance. Air filtration systems actively remove particulates and cycle the data center's air supply rapidly.
Data center access is strictly limited to technical staff and controlled by card-key access and electronic security systems, which are monitored locally and externally by Safe Systems. The facility is protected by motion detectors and six 24/7 video surveillance cameras. For fire protection, Earthnet utilizes a Fike Cheetah FM-200 clean agent fire suppression system, which isolates and extinguishes fires without water. The system requires both smoke and heat detection via a grid of ceiling and under-floor sensors and employs advanced VESDAT laser smoke sensors. Earthnet is also in constant reporting for SSAE 16 Type II certification.
