Cologix (COL2) Data Center

The Cologix Columbus facility is strategically designed to offer the utmost in uptime and network performance, positioning it as an ideal location for primary IT deployments and disaster recovery sites. Its location at the convergence point of long-haul and regional carrier fiber networks in Central Ohio makes it particularly advantageous for backing up primary sites in cities like Chicago and New York. This end-to-end system is entirely fault-tolerant, boasting backups of backups to ensure seamless operation.

The facility boasts a pristine record of no outages, delivering 100% uptime. This remarkable resiliency is achieved through a robust power infrastructure that includes three different utility substations, six uninterruptible power systems (UPSs), and two generators. Critical power infrastructures maintain 2N redundancies, meaning if any component fails, redundant systems automatically take over without human intervention, ensuring continuous service. The cooling system also features 2N redundancy with a substantial 700-ton capacity, capable of supporting high-density setups up to 64 kW per rack.

In terms of technical specifications, the data center utilizes N+1 redundancy for its UPS and standby power, with a configuration that can also support 2(N+1) redundancy on critical power. The standby power is backed by onsite fuel capacity for 7 days run-time at full load. The facility is a Tier 4 design, purpose-built with a raised floor and a maximum floor load of 925 Lb/sq.ft.

Cologix Columbus is recognized as the Most Connected Data Center in Ohio. Customers gain access to 30+ unique networks in the Meet-Me-Room (MMR), in addition to networks offered by other tenants, including dark fiber network access. Furthermore, Cologix supports the Ohio Middle Mile Consortium with fiber feeds reaching all 88 Ohio counties, and the Columbus FiberNet system also crosses the private campus.

The facility is highly certified and secure, complying with a multitude of industry standards. It is SSAE 16 SOC 1 and SOC 2 Type 2 audited, and is compliant with HIPAA, PCI, and IRS 1075, among others. Security is layered and active 24/7, featuring CCTV surveillance, mantraps, biometric access control, card access control, and onsite security staff. Fire safety is maintained with a multi-stage, zoned and localized dry pipe fire suppression system.

Cologix emphasizes its history of the best local support in the region, providing all customers with direct and 24/7 access to seasoned local engineers and support teams. The Cologix Command data center infrastructure management (DCIM) platform is leveraged by local technicians for continuous service monitoring and to alert customers of nearing capacity. The center offers flexible colocation options including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, Suites, and Footprints, along with Remote Hands service.

Beyond its core data center services, the facility provides essential amenities such as a Conference Room, Breakroom, Office Space, Loading Bay, and WiFi. Connectivity is further enhanced by Internet Exchange Points and 24 peering networks, cementing its role as a critical hub for network interconnection in the region.
