Historical Significance
Originally constructed in 1912 and opened in 1924 as The R.R. Donnelley Printing Plant (also known as The Calumet or Lakeside Plant), the building was designed to accommodate heavy printing equipment. This robust infrastructure later made it ideal for data center use. In 1999, the property was retrofitted into a carrier hotel, transforming it into one of the Midwest’s most important digital infrastructure assets.
