The Hiawatha facility, which opened its doors on October 1st, 2012, served as the first in a planned series of data centers across Iowa. This purpose-built, multi-tenant location was designed with scalability in mind, featuring a 15,000 square foot total building size. Of this footprint, 12,000 square feet is dedicated to whitespace, which remains expandable to accommodate future client growth. The architecture follows a Tier III design standard, ensuring a high level of performance and uptime for all hosted equipment.

To support intensive computing needs, the Hiawatha site boasts a fully built-out power capacity of 4 MW. It is engineered to handle high-density requirements, offering a maximum power of 10 kW per rack. Reliability is anchored by a 2N UPS redundancy system, which ensures that power remains constant even in the event of component failure. This robust electrical framework allows Enseva to provide the redundancy required for mission-critical business applications.

Security is a cornerstone of the Enseva facility, utilizing a multi-layered approach to protect physical assets. The site is monitored by 24/7 onsite security staff and comprehensive CCTV surveillance. Access is strictly regulated through a series of checkpoints, including a mantrap entry, biometric scanners, and card access controls. These measures ensure that only authorized personnel can enter the whitespace, providing clients with peace of mind regarding their hardware’s safety.

The data center is equipped with advanced environmental controls and safety systems to prevent damage to sensitive electronics. In the event of an emergency, the facility utilizes an automatic fire suppression system featuring FM-200 gas. Unlike traditional water-based sprinklers, FM-200 is a waterless agent that can extinguish fires quickly without leaving residue or damaging electrical equipment, further ensuring the integrity of the data stored within the facility.

Enseva offers a variety of flexible colocation options to suit different business needs, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace suites. The facility features a Meet-Me-Room (MMR) and supports two peering networks to facilitate high-speed connectivity. Additionally, clients can take advantage of Remote Hands services, allowing Enseva’s expert technicians to perform physical tasks on the equipment on behalf of the customer, ensuring seamless technical support without the need for client travel.
