Situated just a short drive from downtown Boston, the facility at 55 Middlesex Turnpike in Bedford, MA, serves as a critical hub for regional data infrastructure. This state-of-the-art, one-story building spans a total of 106,000 square feet. Originally operational in 1971, the site underwent an extensive renovation in 2000 to modernize its capabilities and meet the rigorous demands of contemporary high-tech enterprises.

The facility is engineered to handle intensive workloads, boasting a total building capacity of 10 Mega-Watts. Currently, the power infrastructure is fully built out to support 5.1 MW of critical load. To ensure uninterrupted service, the electrical systems utilize a 2N UPS redundancy configuration, providing two independent power systems that ensure the facility remains live even during a total failure of one power path.

Of the total building footprint, 49,000 square feet is dedicated to fully built-out “whitespace,” the area where actual server equipment resides. The facility offers diverse housing options to meet various client needs, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace. For those requiring higher levels of physical isolation, the site also provides dedicated cages, private suites, and custom footprints.

Maintaining an optimal climate for hardware is a top priority, supported by a robust mechanical infrastructure. The cooling systems are designed with N+1 redundancy, ensuring that there is always a backup cooling unit available if a primary component requires maintenance or fails. This design protects sensitive equipment from overheating and maintains a consistent operating environment.

The data center is a carrier-neutral facility served by numerous telecommunications providers and multiple utility feeds. It features a dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR) and supports two peering networks, allowing for low latency data exchange and high-performance connectivity. Clients also have the option for roof access to install specialized antenna or satellite equipment.

Security and data integrity are managed through a multi-layered approach. The facility is heavily certified, holding DSS PCI, SOC 2 Type II, and SOC 3 Type 2 credentials. Physical security is maintained through 24/7 onsite security staff, comprehensive CCTV surveillance, and a “triple-check” access protocol involving biometric scanners, card access controls, and man-traps.

To ensure peak performance around the clock, the facility is staffed 24/7 by onsite technical experts. These teams provide Remote Hands services, allowing clients to manage their hardware through onsite technicians without needing to be physically present.
