Oso Grande Technologies (Oso Grande Technologies)

The OSO Secure Data Center Complex is a robust, purpose-built facility originally established in 1987. Situated on a massive 240,000 square foot plot, the building itself covers 60,000 square feet, with 10,800 square feet currently dedicated to high-density whitespace. The design is highly flexible, allowing the whitespace to expand easily to 22,000 square feet to meet growing client demands. As a multi-tenant, mixed-use facility, it offers a variety of configurations including full and partial cabinets, shared rack space, private cages, and custom build-to-suit suites. The interior features a 16-inch raised floor system and an impressive floor-to-ceiling height of 168 inches, ensuring ample room for cabling and airflow.

Advanced Security Protocols

Security at OSO Secure is managed through a multi-layered approach that meets Tier 3 certification standards. The perimeter is fully fenced and protected by 24/7 onsite security staff and continuous CCTV surveillance throughout the interior and exterior. Entry into sensitive areas is controlled via a secure mantrap, requiring three distinct forms of validation: biometric scanners, pin pass-codes, and card scanners. This integrated system ensures that only authorized personnel can access the data floor, providing the optimal mix of physical and digital access control.

Precision Fire Suppression

Safety and hardware protection are prioritized through the use of the ECARO 25 fire suppression system. This environmentally friendly, non-fatal agent is specifically designed for data center environments; if discharged, it remains active for 13.8 minutes to prevent re-ignition without damaging sensitive electronics. The suppression system protects both the area above the raised floor and the space between the floor and the slab, where dedicated tanks are strategically placed to handle under-floor emergencies.

Power Infrastructure and Redundancy

The complex operates with a robust power plant designed to ensure "five nines" (99.999%) uptime. The electrical room features a 2000-Amp Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) and a dedicated 1.3MW PNM transformer. Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) needs are handled by Powerware 9390 and Liebert systems in an N+1 redundant configuration. Currently operating at 300 KVA, the UPS system can scale to 900 KVA. In the event of a utility failure, a dedicated 800 KW generator (upgradable to 1.2MW) with a 1500-gallon fuel tank provides several days of emergency runtime.

Environmental Controls and Cooling

To maintain optimal hardware performance, the facility utilizes 90 tons of cooling, with the capacity to expand significantly to 270 tons. The cooling system is designed with N+1 redundancy to ensure that temperature and humidity remain stable even during equipment maintenance or component failure. The electrical room itself is supported by two dedicated 10-ton air conditioning units to manage the heat generated by the power distribution and UPS equipment.

Connectivity and Networking

As a carrier-neutral facility, OSO Secure offers connectivity to nine different network providers and serves as a gateway to the OSO Clear Fiber network. This fiber network utilizes two diverse physical path entrances and connects to 22 buildings within a half-mile radius, including the 505 Marquette telecommunications hotel in Albuquerque. The facility houses a dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR), provides access to an Internet Exchange Point (IXP), and supports four peering networks, allowing clients to tap into virtually any network infrastructure.

Amenities and Disaster Recovery

Beyond pure data storage, the complex serves as a comprehensive business continuity hub. It features a 48-seat "Hot Site" equipped with computers, desks, and SIP phone capabilities, all backed by generator power. For day-to-day operations, the facility includes executive meeting areas, two classroom labs, a 24/7 Network Operations Center (NOC), and onsite technical staff during business hours. Client comfort is also considered with available office spaces, conference rooms, a breakroom, WiFi, and plentiful onsite parking.
