The Node4 Northampton data centre is a premier facility strategically located within the Midlands, designed to serve as a cornerstone for colocation and managed hosting. The site offers a substantial 13,000 sq ft of dedicated data centre space approximately 3,809 sq.m. of whitespace housed within a sole tenant facility. To ensure efficient organization and scalability for diverse client needs, the infrastructure is divided into four separate halls, providing a total capacity for 450 racks. This layout allows for high density configurations while maintaining the structural integrity required for modern enterprise hardware.

Reliability is the foundation of this Tier 3 design facility, supported by a robust 4.0MVA power supply delivered via quad transformers. To mitigate the risk of downtime, the site employs a highly resilient 2N UPS redundancy configuration, ensuring that power remains stable even during component failure. In the event of a total grid loss, the facility is backed by N plus 1 standby generators. This always on approach ensures that mission critical operations remain functional under any circumstances, providing 4 MW of fully built out power to the whitespace.

To maintain optimal hardware performance and longevity, the facility utilizes sophisticated climate and fire suppression systems. Cooling is managed through N plus 2 water cooled chillers, ensuring that even during peak loads or maintenance cycles, the equipment remains within safe thermal limits. For fire safety, the data centre is equipped with VESDA very early smoke detection apparatus and utilizes a combination of FM200 and IG55 Argon Nitrogen fire suppression agents. These systems are designed to extinguish fires quickly without damaging sensitive electronic equipment.

Security at the Northampton site is comprehensive, blending physical barriers with high tech monitoring to meet ISO27001 and DSS PCI compliance standards. The perimeter is secured with specialized fencing and monitored around the clock by on site security staff. Access is strictly controlled through photo ID verification and the use of anti tailgating pods to prevent unauthorized entry. Constant CCTV surveillance covers the entire premises, ensuring that every movement within the facility is logged and audited for maximum peace of mind.

As a vital hub for data exchange, the facility features a dedicated Meet Me Room to facilitate seamless interconnection between carriers and clients. It is integrated into a high speed MPLS network POP and offers dedicated internet connections to ensure low latency performance.
