Lunar3 is an impressive purpose-built facility located in a thriving business hub in East Manchester. The 836m² site has been designed according to Green Design Standards, offering advanced energy efficiency and ultimate data protection. The facility includes an on-site satellite farm, catering to clients in the media, streaming, and analytical sectors. Designed for extensive colocation services, Lunar3 features three data halls with a floor load capacity of 1,000 kg/m².

The data center provides flexible colocation options, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, footprints, cages, and dedicated private suites. Client racks are housed in secure areas with bespoke cold aisle containment, maintaining optimal server temperatures and contributing to Lunar Digital’s industry-leading PUE of <1.35. The raised floor systems effectively manage air distribution according to varying equipment power loads.

Lunar3’s power infrastructure includes a dual-fed transformer with 2 MVA incoming capacity, a dedicated private HV substation, and redundant N+1 UPS systems regulating incoming supply. On-site diesel generators with N+1 redundancy can run for up to one week and are supported by a 24x7 refueling contract for indefinite operation. Cooling is provided via a DX In-Row system with N+1 redundancy, ensuring continuous temperature control. N+1 configuration guarantees diverse power paths, enabling maintenance without impacting client IT load.

Access to Lunar3 is controlled 24x7x365 for authorized personnel, with visitor activity monitored via CCTV and photographic records. The building is surrounded by a 2.5m perimeter fence, electronic gate-controlled car park, and entry scanners for critical zones. Fire detection and suppression are handled by VESDA smoke detection systems and FM200 gaseous fire extinguishants, capable of extinguishing fires within seconds while remaining environmentally friendly and safe for humans.

Lunar3 operates as a carrier-neutral facility, offering clients a choice of Tier 1 and Tier 2 networks, dark fiber circuits from multiple providers, and direct access to leading Internet Exchange points. Diverse entry points into the building provide network resilience, with connectivity to other data centers across the UK and Europe.

The facility is designed to meet strict regulatory standards, including PCI-DSS, ISO 27001, FSA regulations, and government-level audits. Security and operational procedures ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
