Global Switch (London North) Data Center

Global Switch’s London Data Center is a premier data hub situated in the heart of the UK's digital infrastructure. Comprising two interconnected facilities, London East and London North, the campus is strategically located just 0.5 miles from London's primary financial district. This proximity to the city center makes it a critical node for low latency financial transactions. Its position is further enhanced by its adjacency to main international fiber routes, ensuring high speed data transfer across the continent.

A standout feature of the London campus is its direct integration with global telecommunications infrastructure. The site provides direct access to two major subsea cable systems, Atlantic Crossing 1 and the West African Cable System. These connections serve as vital arteries for international data, linking London to North America and the African continent. This unique accessibility allows for massive bandwidth capacity and high resiliency global networking for its tenants.

The London North facility has undergone a significant transformation to meet modern industrial demands, boasting a fully built out power capacity of 26 MW. The technical design allows for a high power density of 2 kW per square meter, supporting high performance computing environments. Despite this high output, the facility maintains an impressive Power Usage Effectiveness of 1.3, reflecting a commitment to energy efficiency within its 23,439 square meter footprint.

To ensure 100 percent uptime for mission critical operations, the campus employs comprehensive N plus 1 redundancy across all primary systems, including UPS, cooling, and standby power. The facility is a purpose built construction designed specifically for data resiliency. Maintenance and technical oversight are constant, with onsite technical staff available 24 by 7 to manage the complex mechanical and electrical systems that keep the ecosystem running smoothly.

Security at the Global Switch campus is multi layered, combining physical barriers with rigorous digital standards. The site is protected by a fenced perimeter, mantrap entry systems, CCTV surveillance, and card access control, with security staff on site during business hours. Furthermore, the facility adheres to a comprehensive suite of international standards, including ISO 27001 for information security, ISO 50001 for energy management, and DSS PCI compliance for secure financial data handling.

The London North facility serves as a dense ecosystem where over 36 peering networks and seven major network providers converge. This environment allows public and private organizations to connect seamlessly with ISPs, cloud providers, and various peers. With multiple Meet Me Rooms and eight tenants offering specialized colocation services, the campus functions as a collaborative marketplace for digital service providers and enterprises alike.

Global Switch offers a versatile range of space solutions to accommodate diverse business needs, from small scale deployments to hyperscale requirements. Clients can choose from full or partial cabinets, secure cages, or private suites. Additionally, the facility provides Remote Hands services for hardware management and offers roof access for specialized equipment.
