Fortis is Scotland's first speculative purpose-built datacentre, strategically located between Glasgow and Edinburgh, near the M8 Motorway. Operational since 2016, it stands out for its energy efficiency and high-quality commercial datacentre space. The facility is a sole-tenant site, occupying a total building size of 9,290 sq.m.
The datacentre features a fully built-out whitespace of 8,000 sq.m. and is purpose-built with an expandable whitespace. It provides various tenancy options including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and suites. There is a dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR) and a loading bay, with secure parking available outside the main perimeter.
Fortis has a fully built-out power capacity of 40 MW, with a live power of 24 MW. The facility is highly energy-efficient, boasting a low PUE (Power Usage Effectiveness) of 1.15. It utilizes a 2N redundancy for its UPS and an N+1 redundancy for its cooling systems. The cooling is described as air cooling, with DLC (direct liquid cooling) also available. Standby power redundancy is 2N.
Security is a top priority, featuring a fenced perimeter, mantrap entry, and 24/7 onsite security staff. The facility uses multiple access control methods, including CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and card access control. For fire protection, it has an automatic fire suppression system using NOVEC Fire Suppression.
The datacentre supports multiple peering networks, with seven available. It has one tenant offering colocation services, and also provides remote hands support.
Fortis holds several key certifications, including Tier 3 Design and Tier 3 Certification, ISO27001, SAS70 Type 2, and DSS PCI Compliant. Additionally, it has been awarded a LEED Gold certification, underscoring its commitment to environmental sustainability.
For customer convenience, the facility includes a conference room, breakroom, and WiFi access.
