Located in Sighthill, to the west of central Edinburgh, our Medway facility is a strong contender for Europe's data centre capital and is one of three Scottish sites. This high-spec Tier 3 site is pre-built and pre-configured for rapid hardware installation, accommodating everything from a quarter of a rack to multiple cages, dedicated suites, or even dedicated offices. It spans 26,000 sq ft, offering space for over 107 racks (available in full, half, and quarter considerations) and 1,449 sq.m of white space. The facility is ideal for high-density deployments with 100GB network options and interconnects with our nearby South Gyle facility for long-haul UK and transatlantic connectivity. It is easily accessible by road, rail, and air.
Power and Cooling
The Medway facility boasts 100% renewable energy, providing 1.8MW of total IT power, with 1.6 MW allocated to white space. Cooling is delivered in an N+1 configuration via free cooling, adiabatic, and chilled water systems. The site is equipped with a standby back-up generator and features dual diverse power and network feeds to each rack.
Security and Safety
For fire safety, the facility employs double-knock and VESDA smoke detection systems with IG55 and FM200 fire suppressant. Security measures include internal and external CCTV systems, 24x7x365 building monitoring systems, perimeter monitoring, a fenced perimeter, mantrap entry, biometric access control, card access control, and 24/7 onsite security staff.
Connectivity and Facilities
Bandwidth is provided over diverse feeds from four external carriers: BT, Virgin Media, Vodafone, and Fluency. The facility offers a range of amenities for clients, including Wi-Fi, a kitchen, free hot/cold drinks, toilets, a shower, parking, a build room, and a meeting room.
