Broadbent Group Ltd has significantly bolstered its market position by acquiring the sFTP App, a move that aligns perfectly with its goal of providing a comprehensive hosting ecosystem. By integrating this file transfer application, the company now offers a seamless, proprietary solution to its existing hosting, VPS, and dedicated server clientele. Crucially, this acquisition means the sFTP App’s entire infrastructure, including its websites, API, and sensitive data, is now fully migrated to and hosted within Broadbent Group’s privately owned UK data center, ensuring total internal oversight.

The company’s physical infrastructure is centered in a private data center warehouse located in Colchester, UK. This sole tenant facility is strategically positioned for easy access across the region, offering dedicated parking for co location customers who have approved visit requests. The location is highly accessible via major road networks, situated approximately 15 to 20 minutes from Clacton and Ipswich, 30 minutes from Chelmsford, and roughly one hour from major hubs including London, Cambridge, and Norwich.

At the core of Broadbent Group’s operations is a robust network utilizing industry leading Cisco and Ubiquiti routers and switches. The entire network is dual stacked, supporting both IPv4 and IPv6 to ensure modern compatibility and future proofing. To maintain high speed connectivity and stability, the group utilizes multiple tier one transit providers, headlined by a primary 10Gb per second bearer via Virtual 1, supplemented by a 10Gb per second backup through Talk Talk Business and a secondary 1Gb per second backup provided by Gigaclear.

Resilience is a hallmark of the Broadbent Group facility, which employs a multi layered disaster recovery plan to prevent downtime. Beyond the primary fiber uplinks, the company maintains office backup networks including 80Mb per second Fibre ADSL and a final 300Mb per second EE 5G link to protect against the rare event of all physical lines being compromised. This always on philosophy extends to the hardware level, featuring two N UPS redundancy, N plus one cooling redundancy, and N plus one standby power to ensure the data center remains operational regardless of external power or climate fluctuations.

Since becoming operational in 2021, the Colchester site has functioned as a specialized Tier 2 data center designed for high availability sole tenancy. The facility offers a variety of storage configurations to meet diverse client needs, ranging from shared rackspace and partial cabinets to full cabinets, all supported by on site Remote Hands assistance. Security is a top priority, with the premises protected by constant CCTV surveillance, ensuring that the hardware and data housed within remain secure around the clock.
