ADAMANT

Adamant LLC, a telecommunications operator, operates a high-tech data center designed to serve the demanding corporate market. The facility, which began with its first stage in 2008 and a second stage in 1Q 2009, provides a secure and reliable environment for equipment placement. The total server room area is approximately 150 sq. m., with the capacity for dedicated server rooms for clients with specific infrastructure needs. The data center currently houses 28 42U server racks and has space for an additional 13, bringing the total mounting space to over 1700 units. The projected electrical power is 250 kW. The facility was primarily constructed by Adamant LLC's own staff, who hold licenses for design, construction, installation, and information security.

Client-Specific Solutions and Expansion

Adamant has a track record of providing highly secure, dedicated data centers for financial institutions. In 2009, a protected data center was launched for ProFinBank PJSC (Société Générale Ukraine), followed by another for Credit Agricole Ukraine PJSC in 2010. These facilities meet the stringent requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) and feature EM-shielding, dual power inputs, automatic gas fire-extinguishing systems, cooling, access control, and video surveillance. Looking ahead, Adamant plans to launch a new data center in 4Q 2012 with 3000 units and 2×400kW of power, designed to meet Tier IV requirements.

Connectivity and Network Infrastructure

The data center's network is integrated with Adamant LLC's backbone network, which is a large telecommunications operator. The company owns an optical network capable of NĂ—40 Gbps data transfer speeds. Connectivity to the data center is ensured by 10 fiber-optic cables running along different routes, with a total capacity of more than 500 fibers. All data channels are reserved to ensure high fault tolerance. The network core is built on equipment from Juniper Networks and Extreme Networks, with all elements being redundant. Nagios monitoring system is used for controlling equipment, network, and services. Adamant uses equipment from leading manufacturers, including Cisco Systems, Dell, and others.

Security and Safety

Adamant Data-centre is secured by both its own security service and a government security service. Visitors are subject to identification and authentication. The premises are monitored by over 30 video surveillance cameras. The facility's automatic fire-extinguishing system is based on "Impulse-20" modules, supplemented by manual fire-extinguishers in every room.

Infrastructure and Power Management

The cooling system consists of CRACs from Emerson, Daikin, and Mitsubishi Electric, with a total cooling power of 156 kW that can be increased as needed. Cabling solutions are provided by R&M and Molex. Power quality is a priority, with Diris and Control Vision systems by Socomec Group installed to monitor over 250 electrical parameters remotely. The Automatic Mains Switch, based on Technoelectric S.r.l.'s CSMS series, allows for service works without load disconnection. Uninterruptible power is provided by Powerware 9125, General Electric LP33, and APC SmartUPS RT power supplies, which can sustain the load for 8-10 minutes until the 250 kW diesel-generator by MEZ AS Nedvedice starts. A second, more powerful generator is planned for installation.

Operational Details

The data center has a dedicated staff of three employees on duty at all times: two engineers and a security officer. The facility offers various services, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, and remote hands support. Each rack has a maximum power capacity of 6 kW. The data center operates with a PUE of 1.60 and features N+1 cooling redundancy. There is no fenced perimeter, and onsite security staff is present 24/7. The fire suppression system uses an automatic gas fire extinguishing system with an inert gas that is safe for equipment. The facility also has peering networks.
