RZO (RZO)
The RZO is arguably the greenest data center in operation today, achieving an extraordinary Power Usage Effectiveness of less than 1.15. This efficiency is driven by a one hundred percent indirect free cooling system and the implementation of innovative Flywheel UPS technology, which eliminates the need for traditional chemical batteries. By prioritizing engineering that slashes energy overhead, the facility proves that high performance computing does not have to come at an environmental cost.
Net Positive Energy Production
Beyond mere efficiency, the RZO functions as a literal power station. The building’s facade and roof are outfitted with over one thousand sixty photovoltaic panels, generating approximately two hundred thirty thousand kilowatt hours of solar power annually. Most impressively, the facility operates on a net positive energy basis and captures and delivers one point five million kilowatt hours of waste heat to a neighboring cheese factory. This circular energy economy ensures the data center produces more energy than its operations consume.
Tier IV Security and Reliability
Safety and uptime are the cornerstones of the RZO’s design. As a Tier IV certified colocation center, it offers the highest level of fault tolerance available in the industry. Since becoming operational in two thousand eighteen, the purpose built facility has maintained rigorous standards, including ISO twenty seven thousand one certification. This sole tenant construction ensures that every component from power paths to cooling is fully redundant, providing a secure environment for mission critical data.
Scalable Colocation Solutions
The facility offers a diverse range of hosting options across its nine hundred square meters of whitespace. Clients can scale their presence starting from as little as one third of a rack to a massive four hundred fifty square meter private suite. The infrastructure supports full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, and custom cages. With a maximum power density of one kilowatt per square meter and a total built out capacity of one megawatt, the RZO can accommodate a wide spectrum of hardware requirements.
Connectivity and Operational Support
Connectivity at the RZO is robust, featuring a dedicated Meet Me Room, access to eleven peering networks, and an integrated Internet Exchange Point. To assist clients with the physical management of their hardware, the data center provides expert Remote Hands services. This combination of high speed networking and on site technical support ensures that while the facility is located in the serene eastern part of Switzerland, it remains globally connected and seamlessly managed.
