Equinix (SL1) Data Center

Located near Seoul’s central business district and the Yeouido financial district, SL1 is a key hub for digital infrastructure. It is Equinix’s first data centre in South Korea, establishing a crucial point of presence in one of the world's most vibrant digital economies. Forming part of Platform Equinix, it offers the necessary products, services, and solutions to implement an Interconnection Oriented Architecture® (IOA®) strategy, promoting optimal proximity and low-latency connectivity.

The facility is built to handle substantial capacity, boasting a Fully Built-Out Power of 2 MW. This power supports the crucial IT infrastructure housed within. The total area dedicated to customer equipment is also considerable, with a Fully Built-Out Whitespace of 3568 sq.m., providing ample room for growing deployments.

SL1 offers a variety of flexible colocation options to suit different business needs, ranging from large-scale deployments to smaller requirements. The available options include Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, and Cages, allowing customers to select the setup that best aligns with their density and security needs.

To ensure smooth operations and support for remote teams, SL1 provides several convenient onsite amenities and support services. These include Remote Hands for technical assistance, a dedicated Conference Room for meetings, a Breakroom, Loaner Tools, and WiFi access for users working within the facility.

A core feature of the SL1 data center is its commitment to high availability and reliability, achieved through robust redundancy across critical infrastructure. Both UPS Redundancy (Uninterruptible Power Supply) and Cooling Redundancy are set at N+1, meaning a spare component is available to take over immediately in case of a failure. Similarly, Standby Power Redundancy is also maintained at N+1 to ensure continuous operation during utility outages.

Physical security is paramount at SL1, utilizing multiple layers of protection to safeguard customer data and equipment. Measures include a Mantrap Entry system, CCTV surveillance, Biometric Access Control, and Card Access Control. Furthermore, the facility employs Onsite Security Staff who are present 24/7.

The data center utilizes an advanced fire safety protocol to protect sensitive equipment and maintain operational integrity. The facility includes an Automatic Firesuppression system, with the specific method being a Nitrogen gas suppression system, which is designed to extinguish fires quickly without damaging electronic equipment, unlike water-based systems.

SL1 adheres to a number of stringent international standards, underscoring its commitment to quality, security, and business continuity. The facility holds numerous certifications, including DSS PCI Certified for payment card industry data security, and multiple ISO certifications: ISO27001 Certified (Information Security Management), ISO9001 Certified (Quality Management), and ISO22301 Certified (Business Continuity Management). It is also SOC 1 Type II Certified and SOC 2 Type II Certified, confirming controls over financial reporting and security/availability, respectively.
