Star Storage Data Center

The Star Storage Data Center, launched in 2009, is a state-of-the-art Tier 3 facility designed to provide companies with secure, scalable infrastructure and a complex portfolio of outsourced services for data and application protection and management. Its services are built on criteria of economic efficiency and cover critical organizational areas.

The data center has an initial area of more than 800 sqm of whitespace and supports a fully built-out whitespace of 800 sq.m. It offers flexible space solutions including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, and Suites, allowing the data center footprint to grow with business needs. The facility supports true IT electrical loads of up to 8kW per cabinet in selected spaces. Operations are monitored 24/7 by on-site personnel and the Star Storage Network Operations Center (NOC).

Power availability is extremely robust, meeting the Tier 3 requirement with complete redundancy. The facility employs UPS batteries capable of supplying power for up to 15 minutes, backed by on-site diesel generators with priority fueling contracts for long-term outages. The design utilizes 2N+1 for UPS redundancy, ensuring uninterrupted operation even if components fail. The SLA on power guarantees 99.98% uptime. Cooling infrastructure uses Hot aisle/cold aisle designs and a robust N+1 cooling redundancy to manage intense cooling requirements, heat removal, and maintain sufficient humidity to prevent static discharge.

Security is comprehensive, with the facility staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by Onsite Security Staff to control access. The systems are organized around a single entry point with access control based on biometric and proximity security systems. Further security measures include secured points of access, including the loading dock, and digitally-recorded CCTV surveillance monitored by closed-circuit television cameras, with content maintained for a minimum of 90 days. Private customer environments are secured by keyed or electronic locks. The facility also features advanced anti-earthquake and fire prevention/extinguishing systems.

The data center ensures high connectivity availability due to its carrier-neutral MMR (Meet Me Room), integrating access to more than 15 Internet Service Providers (ISPs). This allows customers to choose from various solutions like dark fiber and T1. The high number of providers contributes to the service availability.

The data center is built and operated according to the internationally applicable standards for a Level 3 (Tier 3) data center as defined by TIA-942 (Telecommunications Industry Association) and the Uptime Institute. Compliance is a key business benefit, meeting standards such as Basel II, SOX, ISO 27001, ITIL, TIA 942 - level 3, and Law no. 135/2007.

The center offers Remote Hands service and platform administration performed by authorized Star Storage personnel (Onsite Technical Staff, 24/7). Business benefits include low costs, simplicity for immediate access to services, high productivity through quicker data access, and overall Redundancy ensuring high service availability. The modular "plug and play" design for UPS and generators allows for seamless growth and eliminates gaps in the backup plan.
