This document describes a comprehensive, Tier III certified data center facility designed for high availability and energy efficiency. It features redundant power and cooling elements, providing an availability greater than 99.982% and supporting concurrent maintenance. The design prioritizes energy efficiency with a target Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) lower than 1.3 at 100% load, although the actual PUE is 1.75 at 20% load. The IT and Telecom infrastructure utilizes high-end equipment from vendors like Juniper, Cisco (Nexus, UCS), HP (3PAR), and VMWare, forming an evolved virtualization platform.
The facility is a purpose-built, sole-tenant data center, operational since 2015. It accommodates 60 racks, each 45U with 1000mm depth and 19″ width, arranged in three cold aisles with 20 racks each. The racks are assembled on a metallic anti-vibration and anti-seismic system and have redundant power delivery capable of a maximum of 11 kW/rack. The IT infrastructure is based on a Cisco UCS Blade Server System (5 chassis, 40 blade servers) with approximately 1800 VCPU and 7168 GB of installed memory. Storage is provided by an HP 3PAR 7400 Enterprise Storage system with 200 TB usable space, featuring an even mix of SAS/NL-SAS disk. The entire virtualization is managed by VMWare VSphere/VCenter Enterprise plus.
The data center has a total installed power of 480 kW×2 with redundancy in two lines, each backed by an automatic diesel generator. The UPS systems feature high-performance rectifiers, inverters, and accumulators (108 packs with 100 Ah capacity per power box). Redundant UPS units support chiller pumps (2×40 kVA) and inline cooling units (2×20 kVA). The facility integrates green energy sources, including an 80×250W (20 kW) photovoltaic farm and a 2 kW wind turbine.
The cooling system is highly redundant and energy-efficient, utilizing Adiabatic & Free cooling for IT containers via 24 LCU (20 kW each) in a 7+1 redundant configuration per cold aisle, providing 160 kW of cooling capacity per cold aisle for a 140 kW load. Chiller water cooling is provided by 3×300 kW chiller units with a N+1 redundant compressor-based system with Free Cooling mechanisms. Cold-Isle/Hot Isle containment is implemented with front-to-back airflow for optimization.
A complex security system is in place, featuring a HD IP camera surveillance system with NVR recording and a minimum of 30 days data storage. Access control utilizes magnetic stripe cards and provides real-time reports and history. The system has a dual power source (main and UPS). Emergency fire paths are present, both mechanical and electromagnetic. The fire detection and extinguisher system is comprehensive, including fire detection and smoke sensors, temperature sensors, fire extinguisher cylinders, and an automatic fire path unlocking mechanism integrated with the control panel.
The data center features robust connectivity with three geographically and logically independent underground optical fiber links (144 optical wires available). The logical connections are provided by Juniper MPLS Switches and Routers which are included in the main N×10 Gbps metropolitan multi-ring core network of 2K Telecom. This setup supports various logical services (L2 circuits, VPLS, L3 VPN, etc.). Externally, 2K Telecom is a member of multiple public Internet Exchanges (Interlan, Balkan-IX, RoNIX, etc.) and has extra private national interconnection with leading ISPs. Optimized balanced access to the internet is achieved through major worldwide carriers (M247/NTT, Telekom/LEVEL3). The facility has two network providers and is equipped with a Meet-Me-Room (MMR).
The entire facility is designed to meet the Tier III Design standards, guaranteeing concurrent maintenance and an availability higher than 99.982% with 1+1 redundant power and N+1 redundant cooling. The infrastructure components (like compressors and ventilators) also adhere to N+1 redundancy according to Tier III standards.
The data center benefits from a complex monitoring and management software suite that integrates and provides real-time and historical monitoring for all hardware and software components (power, cooling, security, sensors, IT equipment, etc.). This system provides detailed charts, schematics, statistics, and analysis through a friendly graphical web user interface. Services offered include Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, and Suites, with 24/7 onsite security staff and Remote Hands available. The facility also uses A10 Networks cluster balancing and Arbor System technology for advanced traffic anomaly detection and cleaning.
