Physical access to the data center is strictly controlled using video surveillance systems throughout the building. Anyone entering must be pre-authorized and identify themselves at the security desk. To reach the main Claranet server room, individuals must also pass a biometric access control clearance at multiple separate access points.
Fire Detection and Suppression
The facility's fire detection relies on a GANT Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus (VESDA) system, which includes optical smoke and ionization detectors in rooms, overhead, and under the floor. This system runs in a double knock configuration. Fire suppression is managed by an automated HFC-32 gas system that is harmless to electronics and works in conjunction with the detection zones.
Environmental and HVAC Controls
The building is equipped with an N+1 HVAC air conditioning system to maintain an optimum operating environment for all electronics. This system maintains a constant temperature of 21°C (with a ± 5°C tolerance) and a relative humidity level between 30% and 70%.
Services Offered
Claranet provides a variety of co-location and managed services. Co-location options include space per U, half rack, or full rack. Other services include dedicated hosting, managed services, managed applications, storage, backup, business continuity, disaster recovery, software licensing, internet traffic, and VPN (MPLS) services.
Cabinet and Rack Specifications
Racks are 42U high, 1000mm deep, and available in 600mm or 800mm widths, with a load rating of 750Kg. They are constructed with key-locked steel sides secured to neighboring racks and perforated mesh steel doors for cooling. Racks are set up with standard layouts for power, cable management, and patch panels, though mounting angles can be adjusted.
Power and Redundancy
Each rack is serviced by dual redundant 32A rated single-phase power feeds (240V). These feeds are sourced from two different upstream Power Distribution Units (PDUs), which are in turn fed by separate A and B Uninterruptible Power Supplies (UPS). To prevent breakers from tripping, Claranet recommends a maximum continuous current draw of 26A per feed.

The data center, operational since 2005, is a multi-tenant facility with a Tier 3 design and is ISO27001 Certified. It features 300 sq.m. of fully built-out whitespace, a Meet-Me-Room (MMR), and 24/7 onsite security staff.
