Scale, Design, and Certification
This facility is one of the largest data centers globally, covering a total building size of 75,500 square meters. The design, overseen by architect João Luís Carrilho da Graça, has earned multiple accolades. It holds the prestigious Tier III certification from the Uptime Institute, guaranteeing high standards of performance, security, and availability. Furthermore, it is ISO27001 and LEED Gold certified.
Technical Specifications and Capacity
Technically, the data center is built to handle substantial processing needs. It features 12,000 square meters of fully built-out whitespace across 24 IT rooms, with the capacity to house over 50,000 servers. It boasts a massive storage capacity of 30 petabytes. The infrastructure supports a heavy maximum floor load of 2500 kg/sq.m.
Connectivity and Redundancy
The center ensures high-speed connectivity through a fiber optic network with symmetrical speeds of 100 Gbps via four dedicated links, two of which connect directly to Brazil. To maintain high availability, the facility operates with N+1 redundancy for both its cooling and standby power systems, ensuring continuous operation even during component failure.
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
Sustainability is a core feature of the data center. It is powered entirely by renewable energy sources, including an on-site photovoltaic plant, and utilizes an air-free cooling system. This commitment to efficiency is reflected in its exceptional Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) ratio of 1.25. The center's design also incorporates local vegetation that requires no irrigation.
Advanced Security and On-site Support
The facility is protected by advanced, multi-layered security systems. This includes 24/7 CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, palm vein recognition, and card access. For fire protection, it employs an automatic suppression system using IG-55 (a 50% Argon, 50% Nitrogen mix). The center is monitored 24/7 by both an on-site security staff and an on-site technical team to provide constant support and oversight.
