The Polcom Data Center is a modern and large data processing and storage facility located in Skawina, Poland, near Krakow. It's easily accessible, situated just 3 km from the A4 motorway and 10 km from Krakow-Balice Airport. The facility, which was commissioned in 2011, spans a 5-hectare plot and is divided into two main sections: a 3000 m² administration-office building and a 3000 m² server section. The data center operates with a high availability of 99.995% SLA.
Major Characteristics and Services
The data center's key features include a 15 MW power capacity, with a power supply system capable of delivering up to 15 kW per RACK. It has two independent cooling sources with a cooling capacity of up to 15 kW per RACK and utilizes free cooling to reduce costs. The facility offers various tenancy types, including full and partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and suites. It also provides remote hands services and is certified with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO/IEC 27001:2013, and is DSS PCI compliant.
Power and Cooling
The data center's infrastructure is built for high redundancy and security. The power supply features a 2N distribution layout, and the UPS backup system is in a 2(N+1) layout, backed by two underground 15 kV power connections and generators in an N or N+1 architecture. Fire protection is managed by a redundant neutral gas extinguishing system with separate fire zones and an early smoke detection system.
Security
Security is a high priority, with 24/7 physical security, a 7-tier access control system, CCTV monitoring, and a comprehensive Building Management System (BMS) to control all equipment. Communication is supported by 12 independent operators and redundant fiber optic links connecting the Skawina and Alwernia data centers.
