The PDC Alwernia data center is a purpose-built Tier 4 facility commissioned in 2015, located between Krakow and Katowice in a secure, 1.6-hectare plot of land enclosed by a 2-meter-high concrete fence. The total area is 5,000 m², split into a 3-floor administration section with 400 office positions and a 2-floor server section spanning 3,500 m². With an impressive SLA of 99.995% and a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) of 1.1, the center emphasizes high availability and energy efficiency, largely due to its use of Direct Liquid Cooling and passive energy sources like solar panels. Its strategic location offers easy access to the A4 motorway and proximity to both Krakow-Balice and Katowice-Pyrzowice airports, and it's directly connected to the Skawina data center via a redundant fiber optic cable.
Technical Infrastructure
The facility's power infrastructure is robust, with an 8 MW capacity, two 15 kV medium-voltage connections, and a distribution system in a 2N layout. It features a UPS backup system in a 2(N+1) layout and power generators in an N or N+1 model, capable of delivering up to 15 kW per rack. Cooling is handled by two independent sources, including redundant water chillers and precision air conditioning, supporting a capacity of up to 15 kW per rack with free cooling capabilities. The center also has an underground chilled water tank with an energy capacity of 1 MWh.
Communication and Security
Communication is managed by twelve independent operators with two telecommunications rooms and four independent approach paths to the building. An Internet access node with DDoS protection ensures robust connectivity. Security is multi-layered, featuring a 7-tier access control system, 24/7/365 physical security with licensed staff, extensive CCTV with movable 2.5 MPx cameras, and a Building Management System (BMS) that monitors all equipment. The fire protection system is highly redundant, with a neutral gas extinguishing system and separate fire zones with up to EI90 fire resistance.

It is also DSS PCI Compliant.
