OS-IX Data Center, located in central Oslo, is a highly connected, secure, and flexible colocation facility designed to support high-density IT workloads such as AI and High-Performance Computing (HPC), as well as general enterprise and cloud infrastructure. Operational since 2017 (originally opened in 2014), the facility is housed in a retrofitted former printing press building. Its prime metropolitan location is approximately 5.3 km from Oslo Central Station and 32 km from Oslo Gardermoen Airport, enabling excellent accessibility. OS-IX offers shared or dedicated white space across multiple floors and serves as a key hub connecting Norway’s enterprise, cloud, and international markets. It provides flexible colocation options ranging from single secure racks to fully dedicated secure suites or cages, with scalability for future growth.
The facility features 10,000 sq.m. of fully built-out whitespace and supports a wide range of tenancy options including full and partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and suites/footprints. As a retrofitted structure, the whitespace is expandable to accommodate growing demands. Designed to handle high-density workloads, OS-IX offers a maximum power capacity of 50 kW per rack and 2 kW per square meter, making it ideal for demanding compute environments.
OS-IX is equipped with a robust and resilient power system delivering 14 MW of fully built-out and live power, supported by 2N redundant power feeds and systems that ensure exceptional uptime. The facility prioritizes sustainability by utilizing renewable energy through a long-term fixed-price energy supply agreement with a regional provider, giving customers both predictable and low energy costs. It meets Tier III (EN50600 Class 3) performance standards, ensuring reliability and energy efficiency.
Security is a top priority at OS-IX, with 24/7 onsite security staff and rigorous protective measures in place. The facility meets DSS PCI compliance and is ISO27001 certified, ensuring that customer equipment and data remain secure at all times.
OS-IX functions as a major interconnection hub, hosting one Internet Exchange Point, 42 peering networks, and 45 network providers. Customers can access over 60 networks, including leading national and Nordic IX providers as well as Tier 1 carriers. A dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR) facilitates efficient interconnection and low-latency network performance.
The facility adheres to strict industry standards with Tier III design certification, DSS PCI compliance, ISO27001 certification, and EN50600 Class 3 classification, underscoring its high levels of operational resilience and security.
OS-IX offers Remote Hands services, enabling customers to receive operational support without being onsite. Its fixed-price renewable energy agreement is a major cost advantage, ensuring stable and low energy costs.
