Raxio Group (Raxio Maputo MZ1) Data Center

Raxio Mozambique, commissioned in May 2024, is the nation's premier carrier-neutral Tier III data center facility, strategically located within the Beluluane Industrial Park in Matola, approximately 20 kilometers from downtown Maputo. This state-of-the-art facility is a testament to Raxio Group's commitment to supporting the burgeoning digital economy in Mozambique and the wider Southern African region. Designed to meet the growing demand for digital tools and services across various industries, the center provides a foundation for hyper-connectivity, scalability, sustainability, and high-level security.

The data center spans a significant 2,000 square meters and is engineered to deliver a robust 3MW of IT power, capable of housing up to 400 racks. Initial capacity focuses on 1,000 sq.m. of fully built-out whitespace and 1.2 MW of fully built-out power. The facility offers diverse housing options, including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rackspace, cages, and suites, with a maximum power provision of 21 kW per rack.

Raxio Mozambique boasts full redundancy and concurrent maintainability, ensuring uninterrupted service. The power system is built to the highest standards, featuring a 33kV utility supply directly from the nearest substation. It utilizes a 2N power redundancy scheme, extending from the MV Transformer, Generator, and UPS, all the way through the Busbar to the Rack PDU. Both the UPS and Standby Power systems adhere to a 2N and N+1 redundancy design, respectively, supporting a low PUE of 1.3.

The facility's design emphasizes unparalleled connectivity, underlined by its carrier-neutral status and strategic location along key fiber routes. This positioning significantly enhances its connectivity, establishing it as an ideal hub for local and international internet traffic exchange. It features a dedicated Meet-Me-Room (MMR) and supports two peering networks, facilitating seamless interconnections for various service providers and enterprises.

The data center is built and certified to the highly reliable Tier 3 Design and Certification standard. This commitment to reliability is paired with an uncompromising security framework, incorporating seven layers of physical security. This includes a fenced perimeter, 24/7 onsite security staff, CCTV surveillance, biometric access control, and card access control. For fire suppression, the facility uses an automatic gas suppression system that protects the data hall and all technical areas.

Raxio Mozambique is a purpose-built construction designed specifically for a data center environment, ensuring optimal performance and longevity. Beyond the physical infrastructure, it guarantees continuous operational excellence with 24/7 onsite technical staff to handle any operational needs, including remote hands services. The robust cooling system provides 1.2 MW of installed cooling provision initially, featuring an N+1 redundancy to maintain optimal operating conditions for all IT equipment.
