The Emtel Data Centre, a World Class Tier 3 Rated facility, strictly complies with the stringent ANSI/TIA-942-B:2017 standards for the design, construction, and operation of a carrier-grade data center. Located in the North of Mauritius at Arsenal, this purpose-built center, operational since 2012, offers a total facility area of 2050 square meters, with 1,000 square meters of fully built-out whitespace dedicated to equipment and server rooms. Originally intended to provide maximum resiliency and state-of-the-art IT and Telecommunications services for Emtel's demanding Business Continuity Requirements, the center now extends its high-end infrastructure as a service, allowing customers to benefit without the need for upfront investment.

The center's geographic position is a strategic factor, situated in a remote, low-risk, flood-free, and landslide-free area, distant from cities, major business hubs, and the airport. The facility maintains accessibility via four distinct routes. Its physical structure features a reinforced concrete structure, roof slabs with dual waterproofing and steel sheeting, and two barriers separation walls between Data Centre Rooms. 24/7 manned security guards and Perimeter Protection with Beam Barriers are complemented by an Intrusion Alarm System, infrared camera monitoring, and Biometric Access Control Security utilizing dual-factor authentication.

The Emtel Data Centre boasts 1 MW of redundant power supported by dual transformers. It features a separate Power Room housing redundant UPS' and redundant -48 DC Rectifiers. Crucially, it employs a separate A & B powertrain for both 230V AC and -48 DC supply, ensuring high availability. The Generator Block is physically separate from the Data Centre Block for enhanced safety. Cooling is managed by Chillers operating in N+1 mode, backed up by two STL tanks for resilience. The facility maintains in-stock spare parts for critical systems, significantly reducing the Mean Time to Repair (MTTR).

Emtel's Data Centre is highly connected, locally linked to the Emtel National underground Gigabit-fiber backbone. Internationally, it utilizes the SAFE Undersea Cable, with redundant connectivity secured through multiple undersea cables, including SAFE, LION/LION2, Teams, Eassy, and eventually Metiss cables. It features a Dedicated Loading/Unloading Area, Storage Area, and a Meet-Me-Room (MMR) supporting two peering networks, facilitating both local and international connectivity offerings to customers.

The center is managed by an Intelligent BMS system and monitored 24/7 by a Service Operation Centre (SOC). Fire suppression is handled by an FM200 & Early Smoke Detection System (VESDA). The operations are supported by a dedicated and highly qualified staff, with dormitory facilities available for emergency situations. The center operates with a focus on Green design and technology and is ISO 27001 Certified, affirming its commitment to information security management.

As a Tier 3 facility, the Emtel Data Centre offers a comprehensive suite of services to local and international customers, including acting as a Disaster Recovery Centre, Colocation services (Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, Cages, Suites Footprints), and Hosting of Servers and Services. It also provides Monitoring services through its SOC, Managed Services (e.g., Backup, Server Health Monitoring), and Cloud Services. The facility supports a max power/rack of 6 kW, offers Remote Hands service, and is currently a sole-tenant construction type with one tenant offering colocation.
