Melita's secondary data center, located in Mriehel within the company's head office in Malta's Central Business Hub, stands as a high-spec, enterprise-grade facility. This site is built to the same rigorous standards as Melita's primary Tier III site in Madliena, ensuring consistent quality and reliability. Furthermore, the Mriehel facility adheres to critical industry compliance standards, being both PCI-DSS compliant and ISO 27001 certified, making it a highly secure and reliable option for mission-critical hosting services.

The facility boasts a highly resilient power infrastructure to guarantee continuous operation. Power autonomy is ensured by resilient diesel generators with a fuel supply capable of lasting more than one week. The system features an Online/Modular UPS (N+N) configuration, providing an autonomy of 15 minutes. For maximum reliability at the rack level, each rack is provisioned with duplicate power feeds drawn from two separate sources. The maximum power available per rack is 2 x 32 Amps, and efficient power usage is managed through PDU metering with remote management.

The design of the Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) system incorporates advanced redundancy features to maximize uptime. Specifically, each UPS machine is constructed with hot-swappable modularity, allowing for components to be replaced without interruption to service. Critically, each machine maintains an N+1 internal redundancy, ensuring the system can tolerate a module failure without affecting power output.

Maintaining the optimal operational environment is achieved through a robust cooling system. The facility utilizes a Chilled air/DX cooling system configured for N+N redundancy, meaning that a complete backup system is available should the primary system fail. To enhance efficiency and ensure stable server temperature, a Cold aisle containment setup is employed. This ensures optimal temperature and humidity control for hosted equipment.

Physical security at the Mriehel data center is comprehensive and multi-layered. The perimeter is secured with full barbed wire fencing. Access control within the facility is highly restricted, requiring an RFID security card and PIN access system. The site is monitored 24/7/365 by CCTV, with recorded footage backed up for 90 days. Further oversight is provided by a 24/7/365 manned patrol security guard, and all customer access requires 24/7/365 escorted access by approved personnel.

The facility is protected by an advanced fire safety system designed to detect and suppress fires rapidly with minimal damage. Early warning is provided by a Very Early Aspiration System. For suppression, the system utilizes the NOVEC 1230 clean agent, known for its effectiveness and safety around sensitive electronics. Additionally, critical areas like the plant rooms, electrical room, and UPS rooms are equipped with their own dedicated fire suppression systems.
