Operational since 2009, the Retelit Udine Data Center is a cornerstone of Retelit’s Italian infrastructure network. It provides top-tier colocation and data services specifically engineered to meet the rigorous demands of Enterprises, Over-the-Top media players, and Telecommunications providers. Housed in a purpose-built facility, the center offers a versatile environment where clients can choose between standard configurations or highly customized, tailor-made solutions to fit their specific digital architecture.
Power Infrastructure and Redundancy
The facility is designed for high availability, boasting a fully built-out power capacity of 3 MW and adhering to Tier 3 design standards to ensure continuous uptime. The electrical backbone is supported by a dedicated MV transformer substation and two power stations. In the event of a grid failure, the center relies on four UPS systems and three industrial generators equipped with external fuel tanks, providing a seamless transition to backup power and ensuring that mission-critical operations never skip a beat.
Cooling and Environmental Management
To maintain optimal hardware performance and longevity, the Udine Data Center employs a sophisticated climate control strategy. The cooling system is comprised of nine primary air conditioning units, supplemented by three free-cooling systems to enhance energy efficiency during cooler external temperatures. Additionally, five splitters are utilized to manage localized heat loads, ensuring that the 1,000 sq. m. of whitespace remains within the precise thermal parameters required for high-density computing.

The facility offers a wide range of housing configurations to accommodate businesses of all sizes, from startups to global conglomerates. Clients can utilize shared rackspace, partial cabinets, or full cabinets, while those requiring higher levels of physical security can opt for dedicated cages, private suites, or custom footprints. With a maximum power density of 5 kW per rack and whitespace that is designed to be expandable, the center provides the flexibility needed for future growth and evolving hardware requirements.
Connectivity and Compliance
Connectivity is a primary strength of the Udine site, featuring a dedicated Meet-Me-Room that hosts eight different network providers and two peering networks. This carrier-neutral environment allows for low-latency data exchange and robust networking options. Furthermore, the facility prioritizes data integrity and security, maintaining ISO27001 certification and offering Remote Hands services to provide on-site technical support, allowing clients to manage their infrastructure effectively from anywhere in the world.
