Contabo GmbH (Munich) Data Center

Contabo operates an ultra-modern "green data center" in Munich, constructed in 2009, offering colocation space for more than 4,000 servers. The facility has fully built-out power of 1 MW and a whitespace of 300 sqm, with flexible options including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rack space, cages, and suites. The data center is located in the same building as Contabo’s offices, just one story above the data floor, and the whitespace is expandable to meet growing customer needs.

The data center provides a range of services from standard dedicated servers to colocation. Remote Hands support is available to assist customers with operational tasks. The multi-tenant facility is designed for mixed-use tenancy, allowing flexible hosting solutions tailored to customer requirements.

The data center’s energy supply includes an in-house transformer station with a total connected power of 1 MVA, which is expandable. The facility features a modular UPS system with N+1 redundancy and fully redundant air conditioning with free cooling, energy-efficient technology, remote control, and expandable capacity. Nearly 400 power outlets are mounted directly into the double floor, each electrically interlocked at 16 A, with AC ventilation grills and cool water canalization beneath the floor.

The facility adheres to modern energy-efficient and environmental standards, featuring a green data center design with N+1 redundancy for UPS, cooling, and standby power.

Security is a priority, with access restricted via ID cards, a 24/7 security service, CCTV surveillance, smoke and water detectors, and several live webcams. The double floor is fully locked, and each 19″ rack is individually lockable, ensuring physical protection of all customer equipment.

The building provides roof access and fully accessible whitespace, with cable bushings next to each power outlet for easy installation. Offices located above the data floor allow close coordination between technical staff and customers. Onsite technical staff is available 24/7 to ensure operational reliability.

The data center is carrier-neutral, hosting three fiber carriers in the building and supporting almost any other carrier via inner-city connections. Network connections are 100 % redundant and multi-homed with 3 × 10 Gbit/s (Telia Sonera, M-Net, Level 3) across two different fiber paths into the building, ensuring highly reliable internet access for all hosted systems.
