Digital Realty (FRA13) Data Center

The data center, originally established as Interxion FRA13, underwent a significant transition in 2022 following Interxion’s acquisition by Digital Realty. As part of a global rebranding effort, the site was fully integrated into the Digital Realty portfolio, aligning its operations with one of the world's largest providers of cloud and carrier neutral data center solutions. This facility remains a cornerstone of the Frankfurt digital landscape, offering robust infrastructure for enterprises seeking high density colocation.

The site features a substantial footprint with 4,924 square meters of fully built out whitespace. To accommodate a diverse range of client needs, the facility offers highly flexible configuration options. These include full cabinets, partial cabinets, and shared rackspace for smaller deployments, as well as private cages, suites, and custom footprints for larger organizations requiring dedicated, secure environments.

Reliability is central to the facility’s design, utilizing a 2N UPS redundancy configuration to ensure that power delivery remains uninterrupted even during component failure. The climate control systems operate on an N+1 cooling redundancy model to maintain optimal temperatures for hardware. Furthermore, the standby power systems are also built to N+1 redundancy, providing a dependable secondary energy source during utility outages.

The data center adheres to rigorous international standards to ensure operational excellence and data integrity. It is DSS PCI compliant for secure financial transactions and holds a suite of ISO certifications, including ISO 27001 Information Security, ISO 9001 Quality Management, ISO 14001 Environmental Management, ISO 22301 Business Continuity, and ISO 50001 Energy Management. Additionally, it maintains SOC 2 Type II certification, reflecting a high level of internal control and security.

Security is managed through multiple layers of physical protection to prevent unauthorized access. The site is protected by a fenced perimeter and utilizes mantrap entries to control the flow of personnel. Internal access is strictly regulated via biometric access controls and card access systems, all of which are monitored by comprehensive CCTV surveillance. The facility is further protected by 24/7 onsite security staff who maintain a constant physical presence.

To protect critical hardware from fire risks, the facility is equipped with an automatic Argon gas fire suppression system, designed to extinguish fires without damaging sensitive electronic components. Beyond hardware safety, the data center offers 24/7 onsite technical staff and Remote Hands services to assist with troubleshooting and maintenance. Clients also have access to roof space, office space, and a dedicated Meet Me Room for interconnection needs.

The facility serves as a vital hub for data exchange, featuring an Internet Exchange Point that facilitates low latency traffic routing. It currently hosts two network providers, offering clients essential carrier options for their networking architecture. This connectivity, combined with the facility’s high tier infrastructure, ensures that businesses can maintain high speed, reliable links to the global digital economy.
