The facility is a powerhouse of physical infrastructure, spanning a total building size of 200000 square feet. Within this footprint, Columbia Data Vault offers 30000 square feet of fully built out whitespace that is designed to be expandable. Operating out of a four story, purpose built structure that became operational in 2023, the site features raised floors and a variety of tenancy options including full cabinets, cages, private suites, and build to suit configurations.

Setting a new benchmark for AI support, the datacenter supports an incredible 160 kW of power per cabinet. The facility is equipped with a 20 MW power capacity, backed by an Eaton 2N UPS redundancy system. This ensures that even the most power hungry GPU clusters remain operational without interruption, providing the consistent energy flow required for deep learning and large scale data processing.

To manage the intense heat generated by high density AI hardware, the vault utilizes a sophisticated N plus 1 cooling redundancy strategy. By employing a hybrid approach of both air and liquid cooling, the facility maintains optimal thermal conditions. Furthermore, the environment is protected by an FM 200 automatic fire suppression system, ensuring that the hardware is shielded from both heat and potential fire hazards.

As a Tier 3 datacenter, Columbia Data Vault is built for high availability. In addition to its 2N UPS architecture, the site features N plus 1 standby power redundancy via industrial grade generators. This commitment to always on infrastructure ensures that mission critical AI platforms experience maximum uptime, supported by onsite technical staff during business hours and remote hands services for continuous peace of mind.

Security is paramount at the Waterloo facility, which features a mantrap entry, CCTV surveillance, and strict card access control. The site is monitored by continuous onsite security staff, ensuring that the physical perimeter is as robust as the digital one. These layers of protection make it an ideal choice for enterprises handling sensitive proprietary data and complex AI models.

The facility is designed to be a complete ecosystem for technical teams, featuring a dedicated Meet Me Room for seamless interconnection and onsite WiFi. For hardware maintenance, tenants have access to crash carts and loaner tools, along with convenient onsite parking.
