Equinix (KA1) Data Center

This highly secure, purpose built facility has been operational since 2011, functioning as a sole tenant data center designed for maximum reliability. Spanning over 43550 square feet of expandable white space on a single floor, the building features a robust raised floor system and offers flexible colocation options including full or partial cabinets, shared rack space, and custom cage footprints.

The facility boasts a substantial 6 MVA of critical power capacity, engineered to support high density computing environments. To ensure continuous operation, the power architecture utilizes an N plus 1 UPS redundancy configuration. This is further bolstered by a formidable standby power system consisting of nine 1250 kW diesel generators, providing a highly resilient N plus 1 backup solution that ensures the data center remains online during utility failures.

Maintaining optimal thermal conditions is a priority, handled by a sophisticated glycol cooled CRAC system. This setup features free cooling capabilities to enhance energy efficiency, distributed via underfloor airflow and air cooled split systems. The cooling infrastructure is maintained at N plus 1 redundancy, ensuring that even during equipment maintenance or failure, the temperature within the data halls remains stable.

Connectivity is a core strength of this site, offering redundant links to major hubs in Vancouver and Calgary. The facility provides up to 100 Gbps redundant connectivity to Vancouver, including a direct path to the primary carrier hotel at 555 West Hastings Street. With a dedicated Meet Me Room, access to peering networks, and seamless integration between all Western Canadian data centers, it serves as a critical networking artery for the region.

The facility is protected by multi layered security protocols, including 24 by 7 onsite security personnel and comprehensive CCTV surveillance. Access is strictly managed through card control systems to ensure only authorized individuals enter the white space. These physical measures, combined with the facility purpose built construction, create a fortified environment for sensitive hardware and mission critical data.

This data center meets rigorous international standards for security and operational excellence. It holds a suite of high level certifications, including ISO 27001 for information security, ISO 22301 for business continuity, and DSS PCI for payment card industry data security. Furthermore, it is SOC 1 Type II and SOC 2 Type II certified, providing clients with verified assurance regarding internal controls and data privacy.

To protect against environmental hazards, the building utilizes a double interlocked pre action fire suppression system, minimizing the risk of accidental water damage while providing rapid response to fire threats. Beyond hardware protection, the facility offers 24 by 7 onsite technical staff and Remote Hands services to assist with troubleshooting. Additional amenities include available office space, roof access, and adjacent parking for visiting technicians.
