Interoute is the only next-generation network covering the majority of the European Union, from London to Warsaw and from Stockholm to Sicily, with transatlantic capacity linked to North America's major telecoms hub. Completed in mid-2002, Interoute rapidly expanded through multiple acquisitions: GTS/Ebone’s metropolitan fibre assets in 2002, media services assets in 2003, an Eastern European fibre network in 2004, PSINet Europe/Via’s managed hosting services in 2005, a managed services company in Bulgaria in 2006, and London Metro and Swedish hosting companies in 2007. The network footprint now covers over 57,000 kilometres, providing backbone/long-haul connectivity to 90 cities, with metropolitan area networks (MANs) in 21 of those cities. Building assets include over 100,000 m² of space, ranging from carrier specification to world-class Data Centre grade.

With more than 240 points of presence (PoPs), Interoute has the reach and depth to meet customer requirements efficiently. The combined assets represent a total investment exceeding €2.7 billion. Following its 2003 restructuring, Interoute operates with virtually zero external debt, two internationally recognized shareholders, and some of the lowest running costs per kilometre of any pan-European network.

Interoute’s modern infrastructure supports rapid deployment of software-based products and services with high bandwidth demands, including VOIP, digital media, and secure private networks (VPNs). Its architecture has proven reliability, demonstrated during the 2004 Summer Olympics when it provided the European network for real-time TV broadcasts. Post-Olympics, the Greek operator OTE adopted Interoute for its European network. Interoute provides unparalleled end-to-end connectivity to major European incumbents, mobile operators such as Vodafone, 3, and Orange, and leading American and Asian providers including AT&T, VSNL, and NTT. Voice and data services are also delivered directly to large enterprise customers.

Interoute offers flexible colocation options including Full Cabinets, Partial Cabinets, Shared Rackspace, and Footprints, alongside technical support services such as Remote Hands. Network services are tailored to corporate clients, with high growth in products like VPNs and VOIP, contributing to revenue growth that has dramatically outperformed the market, achieving a 79% CAGR.
