Unique Features of the Data Centre

This data centre incorporates cutting-edge infrastructure designed for optimal performance and reliability. A standout feature is the use of Chatsworth (CPI) Vertical Exhaust Duct (VED) server rack cabinets, developed in partnership with Intel. These specialized racks enhance thermal management by effectively separating hot exhaust air from cold intake air, significantly improving cooling efficiency. Complementing this, the facility employs the Starline electrical busway power distribution system, ensuring flexible and robust power delivery throughout the centre.

Power Capacity and Distribution

The data centre boasts a total power capacity of 1 MVA, providing ample energy to support high-density computing environments. Each individual rack can be configured to draw power up to 30 kW, accommodating demanding server setups. Power distribution is designed with reliability in mind, utilizing an A+B redundant path to minimize the risk of outages and maintain continuous operation.

Advanced Cooling Solutions

Maintaining optimal temperatures is critical, and this centre achieves it through a fully redundant N+1 Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) system. The innovative Chatsworth VED rack cabinets play a key role by physically isolating hot and cold airflow within the racks. This passive cooling technology not only maximizes efficiency but also reduces operational costs and eliminates potential points of failure. Each rack can support up to 30 kW of cooling passively, making it one of the most cost-effective and reliable thermal management solutions currently available.

Communications Infrastructure

Connectivity is a vital component of this facility’s offering. Currently, Amcom provides fibre optic connections directly within the data centre. Additionally, Nextgen fibre infrastructure is located within 100 meters and is expected to be integrated into the centre shortly. The site also connects to the DC Two WAN network, offering high-speed links to Perth’s CBD, internet access, 1Gb Ethernet WAIX, and satellite communications via the Satcomms satellite earth station. Network switching and routing are managed by Juniper SRX and EX platforms, supporting both 1GbE and 10GbE connectivity for versatile and high-speed data transmission.

Management and Security Systems

The facility employs a comprehensive management system that continuously monitors all critical infrastructure, including electrical systems, environmental controls, fire detection, and security mechanisms. Access is tightly controlled with swipe card entry at all access points, rack areas, and internal and external spaces, all under constant surveillance by multiple CCTV cameras. The site is staffed during business hours and benefits from 24/7 remote monitoring to ensure ongoing security and operational integrity.

Service Offerings

Clients can select from a range of options including full cabinets, partial cabinets, shared rack space, and remote hands support. The data centre currently has one established network provider, with additional providers anticipated soon to enhance connectivity choices.
